Reiki Rocking-Releasing the Trauma of COVID

Beloit Healing Center is offering a new modality, called Reiki Rocking. After a year when many people have been deprived of touch, it is accessible for more people, especially those who don’t want the traditional therapeutic massage.

Reiki Rocking was inspired by this article in the New York Times Magazine about how rocking has been shown to synchronize the brain and produce relaxing and anxiety-relieving feelings. As the author David Aloi puts it, “it’s a shortcut to Chill Town.”

I am trained in Sensory Repatterning (SR), a modality that includes rocking and stretching movements. One of its goals is to become aware of and release holding patterns in the muscles associated with stress and trauma. With SR, the client wears clothing for yoga. Reiki Rocking came about because there are times of stillness and natural pauses in SR that lend themselves to the use of Reiki. Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan. Reiki means Universal Life Force energy. People often report a deeply relaxed feeling of well-being from a Reiki Session.

The Reiki Rocking session is around 75 minutes and is $50.  Please mention this article for a 10% discount.

Pleasure is inevitable

Pleasure is inevitable. This is my new mantra.

We are hard-wired for pleasure.  Sure, this wiring can go haywire and become a jumbled mess of crossed wires. Our thought and feeling become intertwined in such a way that clarity is elusive.  Releasing has been the way for me to untangle and to separate the thoughts and feelings and gain discrimination.

But what if we’ve released our garbage (or the big chunks, anyway) and we’ve experienced what’s possible? We have felt our inner being glowing and guiding our lives. And what if we want more?  I have felt that sometimes my body was holding me back, so I launched out on a releasing adventure to handle the body issues. Working with Diane Stilwell, a fantastic coach, and teacher of mine, I have been working with a goal and releasing into it.

I easily live in the infinite flow of health, at ____ by _____.

I believe that by releasing this goal, I was introduced to a line of full-spectrum hemp products that are amazing. It feels like support on the physical for this goal.  Even more than that, I am inspired that life really can be rewarding and fun, in spite of the news.

What is your Why?

I was asked in an online training this week, “What is my why?” My wife, my home, and our two four-legged canine children are certainly a big part of my why. Spiritual mastery is also an aspect of my why.

We are part of the consciousness creating the story on the planet, and that consciousness asks us to take responsibility for our experience. We are here to expand our awareness of who we think we are and experience the totality of our Beingness. We are here to experience Oneness with everyone and everything, part of the fabric of the garment created on Earth at this time.

But if I look underneath this idea of spiritual mastery, I want to know myself as a limitless being. Underneath that is a stillness and an imperturbability. I know my internal world creates the experiences of my external world. It is an inside job. When we don’t like what we see on the outside, it is merely whisperings from our soul that tell us what limiting beliefs we still hold.

Mastering my internal world means allowing my Higher Self to take the reins and allowing the Truth to run the show, letting go of the beliefs or programs that I put in place because I thought they would keep me safe, and then watching the external world change.

So, I will now ask you. What is your why? Why do you get out of bed in the morning? Why do you do the things you do? Why are you here on this planet at this very pivotal moment in history? And if it is even more than that…what is your why?

How empathy got me fired and do we need e-PPE?

I was fired from my job in 2012. The company I was working for was planning to move the whole manufacturing facility to a neighboring city. Up to this point, I thought of myself as energy sensitive but that was as far as I took it.

I am not sure what a smooth manufacturing facility move would look like, but I am quite sure this relocation was not it. As the receptionist, I found myself trying to help it go smoothly and the whole stressed and irritated company was coming to me to tell me what was wrong and ask me to help fix it.

I did feel myself collapse under the weight of it, even though I didn’t know what it was. I was numb when I was at work and crying at home. My boss became very demeaning and I was terminated.

During the healing that followed, I did a lot of soul-searching. I read the StrengthsFinder book and took the test. Empathy was in my top five strengths. As I read about it, it said that I often feel others’ emotions–even emotions that they do not realize they have. A light bulb went off in my head. It made sense of so much of my work life.

At work, there are limited accepted options for expressing yourself as well as forced interactions with people that you don’t necessarily like. This causes people to suppress a lot of feelings. So, I was feeling my own feeling plus the stressed-out feelings of an entire company. I wasn’t conscious enough at the time to navigate that situation without getting fired. But getting fired caused me to learn something I wouldn’t have learned as vividly if it hadn’t happened.

And just before getting fired, I received the idea for the novel I just published, Remembering My Monk. My time on unemployment, before I landed my next job, gave me an opportunity to get part of a rough draft done.

I was reflecting with a friend this week on how we didn’t miss not having to be in other people’s energy during this quarantine. We just have to keep our energy field clean from our own stuff. We don’t have to be in the energy of other people’s suppressed emotional garbage. For an empath, a suppressed emotional energy cloud is like the cloud around Charlie Brown’s Pig-Pen. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pig-Pen Or like that person who has so much perfume on that it assaults your senses.

The PPE everyone is talking about should not only be making us more conscious what microbes we are spreading, but also of the energy we are spreading as well. Do people need energy protection to be around me? I feel very certain that we will continue to gain more consciousness around this issue. Especially when we come out of our shelter in place and begin to interact in the larger world. In the meantime, if you are spending less time with people, I invite you to take some of this time for some honest introspection to see if you can release some of the suppressed emotional garbage that you carry through your day-to-day. It is as contagious as a virus.
